C&NS Network Officer

Based in Guernsey

Reporting to the Head of Network Operations

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the safe operation and maintenance of LPG, LPG/Air distribution networks;
  • Managing the safety, quality, on-time and efficient resolution of emergency work in accordance with the Company’s Policies & Procedures and Standards of Service;
  • Supporting LPG Plant, Production and Service, where required and where competence permits;
  • Maintaining an uninterrupted and economical gas supplies and ensuring safe operations at all times;
  • Addressing and resolving technical issues arising;
  • Developing and reviewing procedures and maintenance systems;
  • Supervising designated resources to ensure all work is carried out efficiently, safely and maximizes performance, productivity and value to the business;
  • Planning and scheduling all distribution works in line with C+NS deliverables;
  • Liaising with various bodies, The States of Guernsey, 3rd party Contractors and Customers on a regular basis;
  • Ensure that all staff are competent to undertake their duties;
  • Identify risks to employees, contractors, the public and environment – recommending appropriate control measures;
  • Provide Gas advice and assistance to relevant parts of the company and external bodies, minimising risks and achievement of best practice.
  • Participating in a Standby Rota;
  • Promote a positive gas safety culture to secure effective procedural implementation.

You will:

  • Hold or working towards a professional membership of a relevant professional body;
  • Hold or working towards a BTEC National Certificate or equivalent;
  • Have a minimum of 5 years supervisory or equivalent experience in a gas or similar industry environment;
  • Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of construction, operation and maintenance of gas distribution, and associated equipment;
  • Have experience working with Health & Safety policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
